Joe McKeown

Lecturer/Professional Practice Coordinator, CYM Ireland

Joe has recently been appointed Lecturer/Professional Practice Coordinator at Youth Link. He lives just outside Belfast with Paula with their children Anna & Lorcán and Irish Doodle Dog Nala.

Joe’s previous role in Youth Link was acting as a training and Development officer helping churches to develop youth ministry, training of youth ministers and young leaders and helping with peace and reconciliation initiatives. Joe has also worked at Diocesan level for the Catholic Church in Ireland and has worked in both the statutory and voluntary youth sectors. He has also experience working on faith-based projects throughout Europe, Africa, Brazil, USA and Australia enabling young people and leaders to make a difference in the world.

Joe has a keen interest in Catholic Youth Ministry, Catechesis and Evangelization initiatives in the Church throughout Ireland. His research dissertations have included: Peace and Reconciliation initiatives, Apologetics in Youth Ministry and exploring how faith-based youth work engages with marginalized young people. Joe is looking forward to his new role and he hopes he can encourage young people and leaders to be the change they want to see in the world.
