I graduated with a MA in Youth and Community work and Practical Theology … The JNC qualification has opened doors for my career which the MA wouldn’t have done on its own. Funders have appreciated the fact that the work of the YMCA is being delivered by qualified professionals. The JNC qualification provides that validity.

PG Diploma or MA in Mission and Ministry (Children and Family Work)
The course is ideal for those both with experience and previous qualifications in the field, or retraining to enter ministry with children, young people and/or families for the first time. You will develop knowledge of the social world of the child and apply that to approach to ministry – for example Messy Church, play, discipleship, community projects and so on appropriate to your context.
Your learning is based on your practice and students will continue in their paid or voluntary roles to reflect on real world situations throughout their course. It also encourages opportunities to try new approaches to ministry by spending time with other experienced practitioners.
For the duration of the course, it is a requirement that you are hold position (voluntary or paid) within a mission or ministry setting, where your formation as a Children and Families worker will be rooted in ongoing practice.
You will also engage in 1-1 tutorials with experienced professionals who will enable you to learn from what you do in practice, and demonstrate competence as a worker.
Alongside the interactive lectures and seminars, CYM provides study skills training, and ongoing academic advice and support for students, as integral components of the programme.
You will receive support from a dedicated line manager and other colleagues within these contexts, as well as a dedicated team within the theological college who oversee all aspects of your studies.
Alongside the interactive lectures and seminars, you will be part of a facilitated peer formation group and are supported internally by a personal tutor and externally by an experienced practitioner in the field.
Core module study block week (October) and termly study days in October.
