The power and the glory

The power and the glory

Have you heard the phrase: ‘today’s newspaper headlines are tomorrow’s fish and chip wrapper’? This ages me of course, since chips haven’t been sold in papers since around 1980 but the metaphor stands – today’s scandals quickly fade away like newsprint stuck to a soggy chip.

The fable of the three trees and reflective practice

The fable of the three trees and reflective practice

The fable of the three trees is one I have used again and again in children’s ministry. It’s been great for Easter holiday clubs, teaching up to Christmas in junior church and for after school mid week activities (I’ve used it a lot!)

Easter Reflections from our CEO & Principal

Easter Reflections from our CEO & Principal

Disappointed

Disappointed

Disappointment is not something we often talk about in youthwork. A recent request to write a grove book on the subject forced me to think about it for the first time in a realistic and honest way. I realised that in my own life I had experienced profound disappointment with myself, with others on my team, with the church, with young people and sadly with myself and God. Thinking about my experiences made me realise how close to losing everything I had come.

Research…really?

Research…really?

We are meant to be curious, inquisitive. It is how God made us – wanting to understand, to know - God, His works, His world, His purposes, His creation, His presence, His love, His eternal dance, His Church, His people, His kingdom more fully. We are all researchers.
