Graham Bright

Senior Lecturer and Practice Co-ordinator

Graham has been involved in youth and community work and ministry, both paid and voluntary, for over 30 years. He has worked in a variety of settings and roles including with churches, Youth Offending Institutions, schools, colleges and voluntary sector youth projects. Graham joined CYM in 2021 after eight years at York St John University, where he worked across various programmes in the School of Education. His PhD with Durham University focussed on youth workers’ life histories, motivations and practices. Graham is a qualified counsellor, working with clients in private practice. He lives in Darlington with his family where he is part of the Leadership Team of The Well Methodist Church, an intergenerational plant, situated in an area of socio-economic need.  It is a church that loves its community! In his spare time, Graham enjoys walking, playing the guitar and badminton and hanging out with friends.

I love seeing our students flourish spiritually and professionally, and, how as a staff team we are able to integrate prayer, care, theology and theory in helping people grow and develop as practitioners.
