The Good Chaplain
We’re pleased to share The Good Chaplain by Nigel Roberts, with contributions from experienced chaplaincy practitioners.
"This reflective book explores how different, yet complementary, theologies of chaplaincy can be discovered in the life and ministry of Jesus in the gospels. Established theologies such as the ministry of presence and the concept of host and guest are explored alongside new insights drawn from the familiar stories of Jesus. each chapter contains a theological reflection and a practical application. The author has gathered a wide range of chaplaincy practitioners to share their experience of theology in action and it is these insights that give the book its value.
Nigel Roberts has been involved in chaplaincy service and support for many years and brings to this volume a fresh vision for this life affirming and life transforming ministry of the church. There is something here for chaplains in all contexts and the book is accessible for those just beginning their life in chaplaincy and those who have served for many years."

Core Standards Of Christian Chaplaincy with Children & Young People
These standards have been developed by CYM in discussion with a wide range of organisations involved in chaplaincy with children and young people. They have been extensively researched and consulted upon, including two events with a variety of organisations and individuals and comments from the sector have helped form the final document. It is our hope that these will form the basis for a more consistent and professional approach to chaplaincy without in any way diminishing its vocational basis. We along with our consulting partners, commend them to all those engaged in work with children and young people.
Collaborative Journal Publication with Dr. Graham Bright
In collaboration with former academic colleagues, CYM's Dr. Graham Bright has been published in the British Educational Research Journal (BERJ). The research reports on a longitudinal study in the North of England with 13 educators in schools, colleges and universities during two lockdowns. The project was designed to ‘unlock’ education by providing spaces to co-create new ways of thinking about education in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
