Would you like to help shape CYM’s future as one of our Trustees?
The Institute for Children, Youth and Mission (CYM) exists to enhance the capacity, credibility, and creativity of Christian mission and ministry amongst children, young people, their families, and communities.
We are at a pivotal moment in CYM’s journey as we look to the future following our decision to close our Higher Education programmes. CYM are now looking forwards to build on a growing range of learning opportunities through research, training and resources designed to enrich the work of local churches across the UK.
We are seeking to appoint new trustees to join with us as we explore the way ahead. We are looking for people to join the current board of trustees who share our commitment to the mission of CYM and who will bring their gifts, insights and enthusiasm to the role.
Our trustees play a vital role in making sure that CYM achieves its core purpose. They ensure that CYM has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision and mission. They also oversee the overall management and administration of the charity. Their role is particularly important during this season of transition as we consider the future direction of CYM in response to the changing needs, demands and aspirations for ministry and mission with children, young people, their families and communities in the UK.
We are particularly keen to recruit trustees with skills and experience in organisational management, strategic development, fundraising and in charity finance. We are also seeking to increase the diversity of the board so particularly welcome interest from underrepresented groups and from people exploring trusteeship for the first time.
We are seeking to appoint up to 4 new trustees to the board including an executive trustee. We ask that all trustees are available to attend 4 full-board meetings annually and to participate in occasional working groups (currently the majority of meetings are held remotely with one in-person full-board meeting per year). The executive trustee will, in addition to general trustee functions, hold responsibility for staff oversight, support and accountability. A bursary will be paid to the executive trustee for carrying out these additional duties.
Further details on the role of trustees and how to express an interest are available in our Trustees Information Pack (see below).
We invite initial expressions of interest by Monday 9th December with view to appointments to the board in January 2025 however, recruitment will remain open until all vacancies are filled. You can submit your expression of interest using the applications portal at the bottom of this page or by emailing hello@cym.ac.uk
We also welcome informal enquiries that can be made to our current Chair of Trustees at: sarah.fegredo@cym.ac.uk
