There are a number of specialist routes allowing student to focus on the area of work and ministry they are being called in to:
All students will begin Year 1 together, then choose their specialist pathway to go into their 2nd year. Many students come to college knowing exactly what their calling is, but others take a bit of time to narrow down their focus. This first year allows students time to test different routes and potentially spend time in a general practice context giving experience of a range of areas of ministry before specialising.
The Pathway is based on their practice in years 2 and 3 and culminates in the presentation of a portfolio of evidence at the end of their third year where the specialism will be confirmed.
The option is also available to not pursue a specialism. This may be suitable for those with a more general pastoral ministry whose focus is more broad than children or youth work and so on. It is also available for who are unable to complete their practice for a range of reasons. The award will be BA (Hons) in Practical Theology – with no specialism in brackets.
