CYM is partnering with the Saint Peter’s Saltley Trust to enhance existing understanding of the role of the chaplains within the FE sector, specifically in the West Midlands region. We will be conducting in-depth research to explore the needs and perceptions of chaplaincy in FE settings, and seek to capture the perspectives of FE leaders, teaching staff and students. These insights will then inform the development of a training tool to support the initial training of chaplains and chaplaincy volunteers for the FE sector.
Phase one is open now...we would like to have a 30minute zoom conversation with leaders from all FE establishments in the West Midlands region during July or September. Please get in touch now to tell us the most convenient time for you.
There will be a prize draw for all who participate in this phase of the research - the prize is a £50 Amazon voucher. All who participate in phase one will be entered into this prize draw.
This project has been checked and approved by the ethics committee at Liverpool Hope University. Here is further information.

Update on CYM HE courses and announcing our CYM Futures Project
We announced in July 2024 that CYM were suspending all new recruitment to Higher Education (HE) courses delivered by CYM in partnership with Birmingham Newman University. This blog entry confirms that CYM will not be resuming recruitment to HE programmes and introduces our CYM Futures Project with a focus on research, training and resourcing for ministry with children and young people.
