This pathway is for those in youth work or ministry (working with 11-19 year-olds). Students successfully passing all academic and practice elements will receive the National Youth Agency’s Professional Youth Work award at the end of their second year.

Postgraduate study in Mission and Ministry provides experienced workers and graduate entrants the opportunity to study alongside their ministry roles and gain a qualification that will sharpen their understanding and enhance their practice.
Developed in consultation with CYM graduates, employers, and practice specialists, this postgraduate qualification offers the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills required for contemporary work with children and families, youth ministry, and chaplaincy roles in schools, hospitals, and other community contexts.
Integrating postgraduate level learning with CPD opportunities, the MA is a practical way to keep your professional knowledge and skills relevant and current. This course provides a unique approach to developing the theological thinking, reflective practice, and research skills needed to shape, lead, and develop transformational mission and ministry in context.
Studying on the MA in Mission and Ministry will enable you to gain:
- A theological and theoretical basis for mission and ministry learned across diverse community contexts.
- Experience working in the groups and contexts that matter to you due to a flexible range of optional modules.
- A critical understanding of community and church-based work and the tools to transform your practice.
- A range of transferrable skills for your future career such as: independent and creative thinking, self-organisation, communication, project management, and the ability to work as a team.
